For some people, the thought of inserting a finger into their eye to remove a contact lens is almost unbearable. Fortunately, there's a product that's both gentle and hygienic, making this lens removal process much easier. A suction cup for lenses makes nighttime contact lens removal quick and easy, keeping your eyes safe and comfortable.
What is the best way to use a suction cup?
Just follow these steps:
1. Dip the suction end of the device in water to moisten it. This will help it adhere to your lens.
2. Place the suction cup on one of your contact lenses, as gently and as straight as possible, while holding the axle portion of the suction device.
3. Pull the suction cup straight out from your eye in a gentle, consistent motion.
4. Place the lens in its storage box.
5. Repeat the steps with your other lens.
Use your lenses correctly
Read all instructions for contact solutions, eye drops, or protein removers. Their use varies and can be harmful if used incorrectly. If you wear rigid lenses, be very careful that they don't slide to the bottom of your eye. This is just as important for soft contacts, but with soft lenses, this is less painful than with rigid ones. Here are some tips:
• Always remove your contact lenses before going to sleep, unless your doctor has prescribed extended wear contact lenses. Sleeping in your contact lenses can lead to several complications.
• Always replace your contact lenses as directed by your eye care professional.
• If your contact lens ever gets stuck in your eye, use sterile saline solution to rinse your eye. If you still can't remove the lens, seek medical attention.
• Never reuse the solution.
• Never use plain water or saliva to clean your contact lenses.
• If you have disposable lenses, make sure to throw them away when you're done.
